Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Eki Nwankwor Chukson, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 17 years of experience in both mental health and general nursing. My practice has spanned across the U.S., U.K., and Nigeria, giving me a broad and culturally sensitive perspective on care. I am committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based treatment that recognizes the individuality and resilience of every person I work with.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University with a focus on psychiatric care across the lifespan. My clinical experience includes inpatient psychiatry, outpatient services, residential programs, and telehealth. I have worked extensively with individuals facing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, trauma, addiction, and co-occurring conditions.

My approach combines trauma-informed principles, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and thoughtful medication management. I believe in meeting clients where they are, providing clear and empowering education, and partnering with them to develop tailored treatment plans that foster recovery and long-term well-being.

Whether you're facing a new mental health challenge or continuing your healing journey, I’m here to support you with empathy, respect, and clinical skill.

My approach to therapy

I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship with clients by fostering a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment where they feel validated and supported. Each treatment plan is customized to reflect the individual’s unique challenges, strengths, and personal goals, using approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing.

I take a collaborative approach, guiding clients as they gain self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and make lasting, meaningful progress. I also emphasize education, helping clients better understand their symptoms and treatment choices so they can make informed decisions about their care.

My clinical interests include treating anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, substance use, and co-occurring conditions. I have a deep commitment to serving diverse and complex populations, particularly those facing both mental and physical health difficulties.

What you can expect from me

I aim to view each client’s emotions and experiences through their lens, fostering a compassionate, secure space that promotes healing and personal growth. I engage clients as equal partners in their treatment, encouraging collaboration and active involvement in decision-making. Each session is grounded in respect and openness, creating an atmosphere where clients feel valued and supported, no matter their background or life circumstances.
