Great to meet you!

At age 50, having raised three daughters with my husband, Dr. Buddy Biggers, I decided to enter graduate school to study Clinical Psychology. At the time, I had been in Jungian Analysis for three years and felt that the Jungian approach to helping people better understand themselves was the orientation I was seeking in preparation for becoming a psychotherapist.

In my search for a graduate program that combined soul and psyche, I found Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. For five years, I commuted once a month from Asheville, North Carolina, to Santa Barbara for three days of intensive study, ultimately obtaining both my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist in Asheville since 1995.

My practice includes working with individual adults, teenagers, children, families, and couples, LGBTQ, as well as parenting issues

Education:

M.R.E. Princeton Theological Seminary

M.A. in Counseling Psychology, Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, California

My approach to therapy

My ideal client is one who is seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with the meaningful people in their world. Understanding the complexities of interpersonal dynamics is key to having healthy relationships with oneself and others. My goal as a therapist is to create an atmosphere where it is comfortable to explore both old wounds and current interpersonal dynamics. In this work, I hope that insight will replace confusion as we embark on the road to a healthy and fulfilling life.

So often, we spend our entire lives encumbered by external demands and influences, perhaps not even knowing who we truly are. What is it that keeps us from reaching both our full potential and an overall sense of peace? We often find ourselves alone or in complex relationships that are anything but fulfilling and meaningful. Unconscious influences could well be at the heart of these struggles.

Until we look at the unconscious influences in our lives, it is hard to know who we truly are, or how these influences impact not only our personal struggles, but our most meaningful relationships as well.

What you can expect from me

We will work together to identify current goals and establish an understanding of ongoing issues and circumstances affecting them.
