Great to meet you!

I've been doing this work for over 30 years, and one thing I've learned is that most people aren't broken- they're stuck. Stuck in patterns that once made sense, in narratives that feel like truth, in a body that's still bracing for impact. I'm a PhD psychologist licensed in North Carolina, and I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationship struggles- as well as veterans' mental health and sleep disturbances. I work exclusively via telehealth, which means I see clients across all of NC from wherever feels safest for them. My work is rooted in the belief that everyone has the capacity for positive change and meaningful growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative and deeply collaborative. I think of therapy as something we do together, not something I do to you. That means I'm curious about your whole story- not just your symptoms- and I stay flexible as your needs change over time.

I utilize evidence-based treatment strategies to help you build confidence, develop resilience, and learn effective strategies for successfully navigating life’s challenges. My approach is individualized and treatment is tailored to meet your specific goals and needs.

What you can expect from me

First sessions are conversations, not evaluations. I'll ask about what brings you in now, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping life looks like on the other side. I want to understand what is most pressing for you right now. We will use the first session to begin to identify your strengths as well as the challenges and issues you would like to address in therapy.

You won't be expected to have everything figured out. Most people come in with a sense that something needs to change, but not yet sure what. That's a great starting point. By the end of the first session, you'll have a clearer sense of how I work and whether this feels like a fit- and I'll have a sense of what I think will actually help. Not just manage, but genuinely help.
