Great to meet you!

Dr. Elizabeth Ruggiero Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the State of Missouri, the State of Colorado, and the State of Arkansas. Prior to licensure, Dr. Elizabeth Ruggiero received a Master’s degree in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy in 2004, followed by a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Systemic Therapy in 2007. Holding a doctoral degree in this field represents the highest level of clinical expertise, moving far beyond standard training certificates to reflect deep, rigorous mastery of relationship dynamics. Dr. E has extensive experience working with elite federal institutions, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Justice (DoJ), providing high-stakes clinical care and systemic consultation to military personnel and federal agencies. She is extensively trained in Systemic Communication Systems including: terror liaison crisis management, elite training for hostile environments, systems, and people.

My approach to therapy

As a clinician, Dr. E believes that individuals, couples, and families exist within complex interconnected systems, and that true healing occurs when we transform the communication and behavioral patterns within those networks. Thus, she will collaborate with you to map out these systems and target the root causes of distress. Dr. E believes that her job as a therapist is to leverage her advanced doctoral training to help you decode deep-seated relational patterns, empowering you to create profound, lasting structural changes in your life. This is a purely systemic approach to therapy. She integrates evidence-based models including EFT, EMDR, and Human Validation Process Model alongside her intensive crisis management expertise to help clients navigate hostile environments, process high-level trauma, and resolve the core emotional blocks that fuel anxiety, depression, and relational conflict. This specialized combination of therapies is highly researched and proven to restore homeostasis, psychological safety and emotional resilience for individuals and couples alike.

What you can expect from me

Dr. E works with couples and families facing complex relational fractures. Her extensive background with the DoD, DoJ, and crisis response equips her with unique expertise in treating high-stress households, profound trauma, and hostile interpersonal dynamics. Dr. E translates her elite work directly into clinical practice; managing high-conflict, high-stakes environmental demands, the absolute highest mastery of de-escalation, systemic communication, and strategic problem-solving. This background makes her exceptionally equipped to navigate intense family volatility and complex couple gridlocks with unmatched precision and calm differentiation. With couples, she utilizes these advanced systemic frameworks to break toxic cycles, rebuild intimacy, and foster secure attachments. With families, Dr. E treats the family as an integrated unit, working with members both individually and in dyads to repair trust, optimize communication, and establish long-term stability. Unlike generalist practitioners, Dr. E’s doctoral-level specialization and federal experience ensure an elite tier of clinical care designed specifically for families and couples who require sophisticated, highly specialized intervention using inquisitive compassion and honest help. Therapy shouldn't be a long term solution, because its not. Therapy should open you up to new thoughts, feelings and healing, as a good therapist walks with you towards change and solutions.
