Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is England Mathis, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe that helping people is my true calling. I specialize in working with adults and seniors, who often bring a more nuanced perspective to our conversations. If you are experiencing mental or emotional pain, struggling with life's burdens and responsibilities, facing societal challenges, or dealing with anxiety, depression, family issues, or matters related to separation or divorce, I would be honored to work with you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and practical. Early on, we take the time to examine the thought patterns that keep anxiety or depression in control, and I assist you in recognizing how past experiences still influence your reactions today. We focus on building on what already works for you instead of starting from scratch. When we encounter challenging emotions, such as grief or strained relationships, we allow space for them rather than rushing through. If change feels stalled, we will identify what truly motivates you to move forward, and if trauma is involved, we will move at a pace your nervous system can manage. Sessions are warm, direct, and grounded in your current situation.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is essentially a conversation. It’s an opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship, allowing us to gauge whether we are a good fit for each other. During this time, you can share what’s been happening in your life, what you have already tried, and the changes you hope to see. Together, we will create a plan that suits your pace and fits into your life. You can expect telehealth sessions, clear communication, and a therapist who treats you as the capable adult you are with compassion, genuineness, and honesty. Most clients leave our first meeting feeling heard, supported, empowered, encouraged, and significantly lighter.
