Great to meet you!

Hello! I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over two decades of experience providing individual, group and couples psychotherapy. I have worked with individuals in early adulthood through later life. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology and English from The College of William and Mary. My Masters degree and PhD were earned at the American University.

My approach to therapy

I work collaboratively with my clients to honor who they are, help make sense of their emotional responses to everyday experiences, and guide them to become more authentic in their relationships. My approach is nonjudgmental, reflective and oftentimes playful. During our sessions, I help clients make connections between current problems and past struggles. Understanding these patterns builds self-awareness and helps create more adaptive ways of relating to the world.I have been trained in Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and draw on these approaches to best address my client’s concerns, goals and disposition. I specialize in working with people who are struggling with life transitions, including changes in roles or identity, and shifts in relationships. These moments in one’s life frequently result in a mix of anxiety and depression, but can be crucial times for self-reflection and growth.

What you can expect from me

During our initial meetings, we will spend time discussing your current concerns as well as relevant information about your past history. I will also ask you what you hope to get out of therapy. These early sessions are an excellent opportunity for you to figure out if we are a good match for therapy. As we move forward in our work together, we will routinely discuss how therapy is meeting your goals.
