Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Ericka, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C). I received my degree from Barry University in 2020 and have experience working as both a therapist and school social worker. I work with children, teens, and adults experiencing challenges related to anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, stress, life transitions, and behavioral concerns.

My goal is to create a supportive, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves at their own pace. I enjoy incorporating creativity and interactive activities into sessions when appropriate, including drawing, coloring, games, and other expressive tools to help clients feel engaged and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy art, video games, and spending time outdoors. I’m also Latina, and I value creating an inclusive space where clients feel seen, respected, and comfortable being themselves. If we meet virtually, there’s also a good chance my cat Ollie may make a surprise appearance during session.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based. I pull from approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and behavioral activation to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and work toward meaningful goals. I believe therapy should feel supportive, individualized, and adaptable to each client’s needs and personality.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and talking about what’s been going on and what led you to seek therapy. I may ask questions about your background, current concerns, strengths, and goals for treatment. It’s completely okay if you feel nervous or unsure how to answer some questions at first. We can work together to better understand what support would be most helpful for you.

My goal during the first session is to help create a comfortable and supportive environment where you can move at your own pace. You are always welcome to bring items that help you feel more comfortable, such as fidgets, journals, drawing materials, or comfort items. Depending on the client and the time we have, we may also incorporate games, creative activities, or open conversation to help build connection and trust.
