Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Erin Kalk, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in North Carolina. I have over five years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families in private practice, as well as experience in school counseling, community mental health, and residential psychiatric care.

I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Children from Webster University. My clinical work is grounded in family systems, psychodynamic, somatic, DBT-informed, and trauma-informed approaches.

I specialize in trauma, betrayal trauma, infidelity recovery, women’s issues, relationship distress, family conflict, identity development, and major life transitions. I also have experience working with military-affiliated clients, first responders, and LGBTQIA+ clients.

My goal is to create a therapeutic space that feels compassionate, honest, and collaborative. I help clients better understand the patterns shaping their lives and relationships, while supporting meaningful change, healing, and stronger connection.

My approach to therapy

I believe that many of the struggles people face—whether anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, trauma, or feelings of disconnection—do not occur in isolation. They are often connected to our life experiences, relationships, family systems, and the ways we have learned to survive difficult circumstances.

My approach integrates family systems, psychodynamic, somatic, and trauma-informed perspectives. Together, we explore both present challenges and the deeper patterns that may be contributing to them. Rather than focusing only on symptom reduction, I help clients develop insight into their experiences, understand the origins of recurring patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I work collaboratively with clients and strive to balance compassion, curiosity, and accountability in the therapeutic process. I believe healing occurs when people feel safe enough to explore their stories honestly while also being supported in taking steps toward growth.

My areas of focus include trauma, betrayal trauma, infidelity recovery, women's issues, relationship concerns, family dynamics, identity development, and major life transitions. I work with individuals, couples, and families and tailor treatment to each client's unique goals, strengths, and experiences.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation for our work together. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns, experiences, and goals without fear of judgment.

During our first meeting, I will spend time learning about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are facing, your personal history, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. Together, we will begin identifying patterns, strengths, and areas of growth while discussing what meaningful progress might look like for you.

I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and there is no expectation that you have everything figured out before you begin. Whether you are navigating trauma, relationship difficulties, betrayal, anxiety, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, we will move at a pace that feels appropriate and collaborative.

My hope is that clients leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful that meaningful change is possible. From there, we will work together to develop goals that align with your values, needs, and vision for your life and relationships.
