Great to meet you!

Although I only have "One year" of clinical experience listed, my experience and expertise span 13 years of various social work positions with mental health being a huge part of my experience even before obtaining my Masters Degree! Becoming licensed as a therapist has been where I have found my passion! Therapy is personal, and you should feel comfortable being yourself with the person you’re working with, and I find my vast work experience allows me to connect and relate to most clients I see. I’m a down-to-earth therapist who genuinely enjoys humor and believes there is room for laughter in therapy, even while working through difficult things. Every person brings their own experiences, personality, strengths, and challenges into therapy, so I work to make treatment fit the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit in a 'box'. I also believe in being honest and staying curious. If I don’t know something, I’ll tell you! I don’t pretend to have all the answers. I’m always willing to learn, research, and continue growing so that I can better understand what you’re experiencing and how I can support you.

My approach to therapy

My approach starts with meeting you where you are. I don’t believe you have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy that’s part of what we can work through together! I also like to understand the “why” behind what you’re experiencing so that we can better understand the “how to fix it.” Rather than simply focusing on changing a behavior or putting a quick fix on a problem, I want to understand what is driving the patterns, emotions, thoughts, or challenges you’re experiencing. Therapy is a collaborative process. I’ll bring my knowledge, experience, and clinical perspective, while you bring your expertise about yourself and your life. Together, we can figure out what works and adjust if it doesn’t!

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other! Building rapport and making sure we’re a good fit is important to me, so I don’t expect you to immediately share your deepest, most personal experiences with someone you just met. You can expect me to ask questions, listen, and learn about what you’re hoping to get from therapy. I’m also very open to questions about me, my approach, or how therapy works. I want you to feel comfortable speaking up about what you need. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard. Your concerns, goals, and needs are the focus of our work together. We’ll move at a pace that feels appropriate and work together to figure out where to start!
