Great to meet you!

My name is Esraa, and I am a Forensic mental health clinician with a Doctorate in Forensic and child trauma Psychology, as well as a Masters in Correction Counseling. As a clinician of color, and with in depth experience with systems such as foster care, and the legal system, I believe more than anything that the most important part of therapy is finding the right therapist. Building an alliance with your helper in a non-judgmental, empathic and safe environment is the foundation in which healing can then occur. I have over 10 years of experience working with children and their families who have had foster care involvement, and over 5 years of clinical experience working with complex trauma, personality disorders, psychotic symptoms, and specialty topics such as victims of domestic violence, substance use, childhood abuse/neglect, problematic sexual behaviors, and other forensic/legal concerns.

My approach to therapy

I believe that who we are today is strongly influenced by how the world once treated us. I emphasize understanding how past childhood experiences have the ability to impact present functioning. Before finding solutions, I first believe one must come to understand where issues originally stemmed from. This increases interpersonal awareness and sets the stage for working on more concrete and maladaptive thoughts and behaviors.

What you can expect from me

I look forward to helping you walk down your own personalized path to a happier life.
