Great to meet you!

I am a Marine Corps veteran, an Army wife, a mother, and a former educator. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) in Maryland with eight years of experience, and I see clients virtually.

I started as a school therapist. When my cohort of students graduated, about 60% wanted to keep me as their therapist — that's how I moved into working with both teens and adults, which I've done for the last six years.

I am a faith-based therapist who believes in God, but ultimately, my passion lies in helping people, regardless of their beliefs.

I want to make it clear that I may not be the right therapist for everyone, and I don't strive to be. I am not a "how do you feel about that" therapist. I am the therapist who will be invested in your change: I will not always agree with you, I will challenge you, I will always be honest with you, and I will always have your best interest at heart.

My approach to therapy

I am a reality therapist who can provide long-term help for a range of mental health issues. I focus on finding solutions that work for you.

I combine traditional Motivational Interviewing techniques — open-ended questions, reflections, affirmations, and summaries — with CBT and DBT principles to treat a host of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, bipolar and mood disorders, chronic illness, and coping skills.

If faith matters to you, we can build it in. I empower others to use their faith as a guidepost to improve their mental health. I also help people gain freedom from religious trauma and legalism so they can embrace God's unconditional love and acceptance, and I help people understand the Bible and other religious texts for themselves - not based on what others have said. If that's not what you're looking for, we don't go there.

My greatest strength is honesty. Change happens when we are honest, not disillusioned. Your change is my priority.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect an intake session where we get to know each other. My intakes don't involve just me asking about your history — I give clients a chance to get to know me as well. I believe a relationship with a therapist is just like any other relationship: it needs to be a good fit.

I don't believe I'm the therapist for every person who comes in contact with me, but I do believe I'm the right therapist for those who are really looking to change their life.

I have a special place in my heart for service members, veterans, their spouses, and their children. I am raising two children who have traveled the world with us, and I'm very sensitive to the unique issues the men and women who serve our country face and the sacrifices their family members make.
