Great to meet you!

I have many years of expertise working with adults who are feeling overwhelmed by family dynamics and relationships, women's concerns, life transitions, burnout, career stress, and therapy for helping professionals (educators, healthcare workers, higher ed professionals, organizational leaders, and researchers). I also provide support for people facing grief/loss, struggling with perfectionism, and therapy to address depression, anxiety, and health concerns.

My work experience includes therapy and leadership positions at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services, the University of Miami Counseling Center, Scripps Research Counseling and Psychological Services, and various nonprofit organizations.

On a personal note, I grew up in a large multiracial family in the Midwest. I'm a former gymnast, and I enjoy physical activity and exploring nature in my spare time. Prior to my post graduate clinical training, I completed my undergraduate degree in Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Clinical Social Work degree at the University of St. Thomas (MN). I offer telehealth sessions to clients in Minnesota, California and Florida.

My approach to therapy

After nearly two decades in clinical practice, I still look forward to meeting new clients! My work is rooted in the belief that we are not meant to simply grind and cope through life, but to also find joy and healing. At each chapter in our development, we discover new parts of ourselves and reconnect with parts that we seek to revive again. I'll help you sort through the noise, connect with your authentic self, and build the tools you need to handle life's challenges.

My approach to therapy is affirming, collaborative, and tailored to your unique development and environmental experiences (systems and trauma informed perspective). Together we will explore the root of problems and identify strategies to facilitate your growth and healing. I'll help you understand your patterns, and incorporate down-to-earth skills and practical tools that are tailored to address your specific needs. Clients who work with me feel understood, supported, gently challenged, and look forward to sessions.

I encourage genuine curiosity and openness to self discovery in therapy. Occasionally humor and levity show up in sessions, which can be therapeutic as well. We will check-in along the way to make sure we stay on track with the parts that are most important to you.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an important time for me to get to know you and to hear your story. I'll ask thoughtful questions to gather a comprehensive understanding of your immediate concerns, as well as your early life experiences, and other parts of your life that make up who you are. We'll also clarify the things you'd like to focus on in therapy.

I welcome any questions you may have for me as well! My goal is to start off with a good foundation, which enhances the work we do together. I offer a free 15 minute consultation call as an introduction. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. Lets touch base to see if this feels like the right fit for you.
