Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Gwendolyn Boyd-McGhee, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with five years of experience helping adults improve their mental health and build more fulfilling lives. I earned my master’s degree from Lamar University, a CACREP-accredited institution, and am licensed to treat substance use disorders. I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and addiction, including gambling addiction. I also have experience working with older adults and couples of all ages. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, develop healthier coping skills, and enjoy a better quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person’s experiences and needs are unique. I value building a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns and working toward your goals at your own pace. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, better understand their emotions, and develop practical coping strategies. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, or other life challenges, we will work together to identify what is holding you back and develop tools to manage symptoms more effectively. I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and supported, and I strive to help each client build confidence, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what brings you to therapy. I’ll listen to your concerns, learn more about your experiences, and help you identify the challenges you’d like to address. Together, we’ll begin developing a personalized treatment plan that reflects your needs, strengths, and goals. My approach is collaborative and supportive, so you can expect a space where your perspective matters and your experiences are respected. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. We’ll take things one step at a time and begin building practical strategies to help you navigate challenges, manage symptoms, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
