Great to meet you!

Hannah Thiessen specializes in trauma-informed care and EMDR. She brings a holistic, body-mind approach to therapy, combining traditional talk therapy with EMDR to help clients process trauma.

My approach to therapy

My path to becoming a mental health provider began with a curiosity about human behavior and how our experiences shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others. While studying psychology at Wake Forest University, I became especially interested in the connection between life experiences and emotional well-being, which led me to pursue a career in social work. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland. Through my clinical experience, I’ve worked with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, and relational challenges, reinforcing the importance of creating a safe, collaborative space for deeper exploration. This led me to specialize in trauma-informed care, including EMDR, to support meaningful change. I prioritize ongoing growth in my clinical work. Alongside pursuing my Doctorate in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, I regularly participate in continuing education and advanced trainings to continually refine and elevate the care I provide

What you can expect from me

If you work with me, you can expect a space that feels supportive, nonjudgmental, and grounded in genuine connection. At the same time, I’m not a passive therapist—I’m actively engaged in helping you understand yourself on a deeper level. We’ll explore not just what’s happening in your life now, but how past experiences may be shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I’ll meet you with compassion, while also helping you gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you. My goal is for you to feel both deeply understood and meaningfully supported as you grow
