Great to meet you!

Welcome to Harvey Feldman Counseling!

I am currently offering both virtual and in person therapy in Mercer County New Jersey, as well as virtual therapy for people in New Hampshire and Vermont. I work from a person-centered approach, which means that I want to understand what your goals and challenges are, and then work with you to find ways to create meaning in the everyday. I utilize an integrated clinical approach, including aspects of psychodynamic, narrative and relational therapies, feminist therapy and gender affirming therapy, among others, in order to meet you where you are at this moment in your life.

I have clinical expertise in working with transgender youth. Clinical work in this area can include assessment and diagnosis of gender dysphoria, family therapy and support, and partnerships with other providers as necessary.

I offer individual therapy as well as family therapy focused on understanding who you are, and what matters the most to you. With this approach, we can align and work together to help you meet your goals. I start from an understanding that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to listen and understand what is meaningful for you.

My approach to therapy

Fundamentally, my clinical work is person centered, an approach which assumes that you, as the client, are the expert in your own life, and my job is to partner with you to meet your goals. I believe that the most effective therapy incorporates three essential elements: listening and affirming, holding space for the client's thoughts and feelings, and partnering with clients to meet their goals.

What you can expect from me

Clients should expect that the initial part of treatment will focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance, as well as exploring initial treatment goals.
