Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Heather Alfano, LCSW-a therapist dedicated to helping children, teens, and adults heal and grow through life’s challenges. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive space where you can feel truly heard and understood.

I draw on a variety of approaches to support your unique needs, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mind-body skills, and somatic work. These tools help calm the nervous system, ease stress, and foster deeper healing and self-understanding.

I graduated with a Masters in Social Work from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2005. I have completed Mind Body Skills at the Center of Mind Body Skills in Washington, D.C., EMDR training, and many somatic trainings.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, compassionate, and solution-focused, helping you find practical ways to move toward greater calm and resilience.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a comfortable, low-pressure way. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you (or your child) to therapy and what you’d like to work on. I’ll ask some questions to understand your history, strengths, and goals, and you’ll have space to share what feels most important to you. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan that fits your needs and pace. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path ahead.
