Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Heather! I have a passion for helping others overcome challenges and achieve personal growth by changing maladaptive tendencies and behaviors. I received my Bachelor's in Social Work from Winona State University in Minnesota and my Master's degree in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago. I have 20+ years of experience as a social worker in schools, working with children with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression and intellectual disabilities, as well as, working with adults and their families in long term care facilities.

My approach to therapy

I encourage my clients to develop coping skills, build resilience, and cultivate self-awareness to better understand how patterns of behaviors may impact their lives and their relationships with others. I understand that each individual is unique and requires personalized care, so I take a holistic and strengths based approach to therapy. I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including, cognitive-behavioral therapy, humanistic, solution focused brief therapy, mindfulness techniques, and EMDR therapy for clients that have experienced trauma, as well as integrating neuroscience-based strategies as a Certified Brain Health Professional to meet the specific needs of my clients.

What you can expect from me

I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I am an ally to the LGBQTIA + community and a strong supporter of social justice reform and equity initiatives. Through active listening and with empathy, I strive to build a therapeutic alliance that supports and empowers my clients on their journey towards healing and personal growth.
