Great to meet you!

Have you been doing your best to keep everything together, even though part of you feels overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure how to move forward? Maybe you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, recovery, divorce, co-parenting, or challenges within your family. Maybe you’ve been dealing with something for a long time and are ready for life to feel a little more manageable. I’m Heather Curry, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2000, with more than 15 years as a licensed counselor. Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals, children, and families through difficult and often complicated seasons of life. My experience includes working with trauma, anxiety, substance use and recovery, chronic illness, divorce and co-parenting, behavioral concerns in children, and family challenges. I believe you deserve a space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing, feel understood rather than judged, and begin figuring out what comes next.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should begin with understanding you as a whole person, not simply focusing on a diagnosis or problem. My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and goal-oriented, and I tailor our work to your needs, strengths, and circumstances. Together, we’ll look at what may be contributing to the challenges you’re facing, identify patterns or barriers that may be keeping you stuck, and build practical ways to respond differently. Depending on what you need, I may use approaches that help you challenge unhelpful thought patterns, regulate difficult emotions, process traumatic experiences, strengthen motivation, improve coping skills, and work toward goals that feel achievable. I’m here to support you, but I also want therapy to leave you with tools and confidence you can carry into your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to handling things on your own or aren’t sure where to begin. In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been weighing on you, and what you would like to feel or see differently in your life. I’ll listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help us identify where it makes the most sense to begin. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. We’ll start with what feels most important to you and create goals that are realistic, meaningful, and specific to your life. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, comfortable, and hopeful that things can change. If you’re ready to take that first step, I invite you to schedule a session through my profile.
