Great to meet you!

I would describe my niche as high functioning perfectionists. Many of my clients wear multiple hats and although they are adept at keeping many balls in the air, they are exhausted by it as well. I have worked in many settings and in three states over the past 16 years and have found that private practice suits me well as it allows me to focus on a smaller number of clients that can be seen weekly. I received my Master's degree in 2010 and have continued to work with diverse populations that have expanded my knowledge and skills not just as a therapist but as a person. The connection between the therapist and client is so important to success in therapy and I believe that is my greatest strength - the ability to connect and engage and the enjoyment in doing so. Clients frequently tell me that they appreciate my direct style as well as feeling like I am "real" or genuine. Please feel free to also reach out via email with any further questions that may not be addressed on my bio.

My approach to therapy

My therapy style is laid back yet skills based and direct. I know the importance of going beyond just "talk therapy" and helping clients translate what they learn in therapy into their everyday lives. I utilize attachment and mindfulness based principles to assist people in identifying patterns between past and the present in order to make connections to current situations. Sometimes just giving a voice to normally suppressed thoughts, feelings and emotions can be empowering enough to create change. I would say my use of humor, a dose of sarcasm, and the ability to supportively challenge helps push my clients out of their comfort zones where true change exists.

What you can expect from me

My clients can expect to take away an increased understanding and insight into not only what changes they want to make, but how to start making those changes. Clients should be able to leave the session feeling hopeful, understood, heard, and sometimes even challenged. Therapy is a journey of growth and not just a place to "Fix a problem" so we will work together to identify not only what is bringing you in, but what will move you forward. I welcome all questions you may have via email. Give virtual a try as the lack of commute and ability to be comfortable in your own space is a huge asset.
