Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Heather, a seasoned therapist having worked with some of the toughest and brightest children and their families for the last 10 years. I am a fully licensed masters clinical social worker, and completed my graduate studies at Michigan State University. I have extensive experience utilizing CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) in practice with youth struggling to manage their emotions and behaviors. I am versed in working with hard to reach kids of all ages and in fact, love the challenge!

My approach to therapy

I strongly believe that meeting kids where they are at, with unconditional positive regard, a non-judgmental attitude and a genuinely inquisitive spirit, is crucial to both the growth aspect of therapy for the client, as well as my own continued growth as a therapist.

What you can expect from me

I want kids to leave with confidence in themselves and the decisions they are faced to make on a day to day basis. If they are someone who (like most of us) struggles with automatic negative thoughts, I want them to leave with the ability and tools to identify and challenge those thoughts so that they can live happy and productive lives. I have worked in the school system for many years and have some great techniques for helping with school behaviors as well!
