Great to meet you!

Great to meet you, my name is Heather Waite, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience in individual therapy. I recently retired from the Army where I enjoyed the privilege of working with Service Members, veterans and their families. I have therapeutic experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and military, veteran issues. I possess a passion for helping people and believe in working with patients collaboratively throughout care to set personal goals for treatment and enhance life functioning and satisfaction.

My approach to therapy

I am a client-centered therapist. I believe you're the expert on your own life and my job is to walk alongside you, offer tools and perspective, and help you build on the strengths you already have. I tailor evidence-based methods to each individual client which include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

What you can expect from me

I always start with an introductory session where we get to know each other better. You’ll have the opportunity to share what brought you in, a brief history about yourself and what you hope to achieve in therapy. There’s no pressure to have anything prepared or share more than you are ready. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. From there, we’ll work collaboratively in the following sessions to work towards achieving your therapy goals.
