Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Heidi Denning, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My mission is to create a space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to overcome life’s challenges while building the confidence and skills needed to lead more fulfilling, balanced lives.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and my Master’s degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University.

I have had experience in substance use, and community mental health settings with children, adolescents, and adults. These experiences have allowed me to work with individuals facing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns while developing expertise in supporting clients through some of life’s most difficult moments.

My approach to therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, goal-oriented approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be keeping you stuck, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Our work is collaborative and focused on building skills you can use every day. Sessions may include learning coping strategies, practicing new ways of thinking, improving communication, managing stress, and setting achievable goals. You may also receive exercises or strategies to practice between sessions to reinforce what we discuss.

My approach to CBT is compassionate and individualized. Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, I work with you to understand your experiences, build on your strengths, and create lasting changes that support your emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We’ll discuss what brought you to counseling, your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and the goals you’d like to achieve through therapy.

This session is also a chance for you to ask questions about my approach and ensure you feel comfortable moving forward. Together, we’ll develop a plan tailored to your unique needs, creating a foundation for meaningful growth and lasting change.
