Great to meet you!

Hi, I am Hélène Diop is a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPC & Board-Approved Supervisor in the State of Maryland for more than 14 years. I have treated and supported individuals, couples, and families on three continents – Europe, North & South America – as well as various states in the US. My cross-cultural professional trainings and experiences over the years has uniquely equipped me to understand that a person’s challenges in life are often resolved by effectively negotiating one’s worldview’s demands and the context in which a person currently lives.

My approach to therapy

I tailor my treatment approaches to my clients/patients’ needs and strengths. I do not believe that “One size fit all” would be the most effective approach in the field of psychology. I have experience in supporting/treating individuals/families with related legal issues (Substance Use Disorders, Drug & Mental Health Court), as well as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, mental health crisis, and relationship issues. I base my clinical practice on integrative approaches such as: Schema, Psychoanalyses, Emotional Intelligence, Reality, Solution Focused therapies, and some aspects of the Gottman approach of couple therapy.

What you can expect from me

Clients should expect me to be direct but kind. I will support them to gain inside into their present past history, make sense of it, derive meaning and decide how they want to move forward . My goal is to help them to do so in healthy ways.
