Hilary Chentow

Hi My name is Hilary Chentow. I am a licensed clinical social worker living in PA and practicing in PA, WA and DE. I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness, Polyvagal theory and Internal Family Systems and will share resources in abundance. I was a teacher before I made a midlife career change to become a therapist. I am not a one size fits all therapist. And I am ok with that. Right fit is important.

A typical first session:

I will discuss the poem, "There's a Hole in the Sidewalk" by Portia Nelson. We will discuss your previous experience in therapy and what was helpful and not so helpful. I will describe my unique approach to therapy which combines my teaching background with a strengths based approach.

I use humor and warmth to create an engaging therapeutic alliance. I offer a ladder , a flashlight and a backpack to provide a path of empowerment, tools and teach you the language of feelings and thoughts.

My ideal client:

Clients who like homework and doing work in between sessions. Clients who are ready for "A loving kick in the butt." Nerdy and curious types who like learning and want to put in the work to make concrete and measurable changes welcome.
