Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience providing compassionate, trauma-informed care across diverse clinical settings. Licensed in both California and Oregon, my career has been dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating complex life challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, addictions, relational difficulties and serious mental illnesses. My background is uniquely broad, ranging from mental health facilities–both inpatient and outpatient–to medical social work and home health. I have extensive experience working with my own and other Tribal communities in rural Alaska, California, and Oregon, providing culturally relevant psychotherapy and advocacy.

Prior to earning my Master of Social Work in 2000, my foundational mental health experience spanned intensive inpatient, outpatient, day treatment, and residential mental health programs.

As a social worker, I understand individuals, families, tribes, and communities as both composed of, and embedded within complex systems. I work to help clients plan for and adapt to change, striving to offer a safe, supportive environment in which clients will not just experience relief, but become their best selves ready to flourish in a welcoming future.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy has become deeply rooted in trauma informed care, focused on understanding how our earliest experiences become the scaffolding on which we build our lives and the lives of coming generations. Clients can expect a safe, welcoming space where they can show up as themselves or as who they want to be, free of judgment– where encouragement replaces pressure. Where no dream is too big, and no barrier too small. As a team, we will proceed from the idea that all behavior is purposeful; performed to reach a goal, often to protect ourselves from the slings and arrows of modern life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session– coming after the free consultation– will be an intake interview. It will involve collecting historical data, making safety and other assessments, and be an opportunity for you to decide if we are a good fit for working together. While it is generally not in itself a therapy session, it is truly a place where we can begin establishing a “therapeutic alliance,” the key therapeutic predictor of a successful outcome in therapy. I look forward to hearing from you!
