Great to meet you!

I am a licensed psychologist in California and Michigan, with 25+ years of experience. I provide strength-based and collaborative therapy to guide you through your thoughts and emotions towards healing and personal/relational empowerment. Besides clinical practice, I am a tenured Full Professor of Counseling Psychology at a university in California, and I train aspiring therapists.

I completed my doctoral training at the University of Missouri-Columbia and my internship at the University of Florida. I have considerable experiences working with adults, adolescents, and couples/families. I have worked in different practice settings, including community mental health agencies, middle/high schools, and college counseling centers (e.g., University of Michigan-Ann Arbor).

My approach to therapy

I specialize in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family issues, grief and loss, trauma/PTSD, eating issues, career counseling, life directions/transitions. Being in practice for many years, I am also experienced and skilled in treating many other mental health issues. I use evidence-based practices that are culturally responsive and trauma-informed. I work with individuals to build on their strengths, grow self-understanding, address core struggles, and make long-lasting changes.

What you can expect from me

You will feel heard, seen, understood, and affirmed from our first session. You will feel a budding hope. Over the course of therapy, I will guide you to explore your core struggles and help you unravel the emotions, thoughts, and patterns that are often obscured by the difficulties you are facing. You can expect to feel more positive about your self, more fulfilled in your commitments (relationships, family, career), and better equipped to connect with passion, vitality, and joy in your life.
