Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician with a Master’s in School Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. My career has focused on school counseling, outpatient therapy, utilization review management, intensive in home therapy, and Day Treatment clinical work over the past 20 years. I live in Western, NC, enjoy time with my family, am a school counselor during the day, referee soccer for NCHSAA, love playing golf and other sports, and like to cook and occasionally binge watch mystery drama series.

My approach to therapy

I use person-centered therapy, reality therapy, & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am rostered in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidenced-based practice that aids individuals in recovering from and understanding traumatic events in their lifetime. I believe we all need support in various ways, & a systemic approach via our families or other outside members is key to our success.

I help children and adults address trauma symptoms, manage anxiety symptoms, and improve self-confidence. I can help couples work on improving communication and sustainability in their relationships, I can help children and adults improve anger management or cope with other uncomfortable emotions.

During counseling I believe the client is the best resource of knowledge and strength. Everyone has the ability to succeed, learn, and utilize hope for that growth. Through hope and perseverance, change is possible. When you’re ready to get to work on a new, healthy you, I’m here get in the trenches with you.

What you can expect from me

Clients will get to share their needs, concerns, hope for change, treatment goals, past participation in therapy, current and historical medical and psychiatric diagnoses, medication lists, developmental history, school history, and challenges they have been facing leading to exploring therapy.
