Great to meet you!

I specialize in the medical management of depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep disturbances, and substance-related and addictive disorders. My experience includes counseling and treatment of patients at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I have a passion for helping patients discover all that life has to offer and finding joy in each day. Over two decades in medicine have shaped my unique approach to mental healthcare. Starting in telemetry, then moving through various specialties, I've witnessed firsthand how physical and emotional health intertwine. This journey has given me rare insights into both the complexities of healthcare systems and the deeply personal nature of mental health treatment.

These years have taught me lessons no textbook could provide. I've worked with thousands of patients from all walks of life, each case adding new layers to my understanding. I've seen how mental health influences physical recovery, and how systemic healthcare issues can impact emotional well-being. This comprehensive view helps me navigate treatment options more effectively and advocate for my patients within complex medical systems.

My experience spans multiple healthcare settings - from busy urban hospitals to intimate private practices. I've collaborated with diverse healthcare teams, managed crisis situations, and developed long-term treatment strategies. This varied background proves invaluable when coordinating care with other providers or helping patients understand their treatment options.

But perhaps most importantly, these years have taught me humility. While my experience is extensive, I continue to learn from each patient I serve. Their resilience and insights constantly deepen my understanding of mental health care, making me not just a more skilled practitioner, but a better listener and advocate.I am a Board Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC).

My approach to therapy

I approach each patient as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms. Their stories, circumstances, and lived experiences provide crucial context for understanding their mental health journey. By creating a safe space for open dialogue, I encourage patients to share not only their struggles, but also their strengths, values, and goals.

Active listening forms the cornerstone of my practice. I pay careful attention to both what is said and left unsaid, noting subtle cues in tone and body language that often reveal deeper insights. This thorough understanding allows me to build genuine rapport with patients and earn their trust.

I strongly believe in collaborative care. Rather than dictating treatment plans, I partner with patients to explore options and make informed decisions together. This shared decision-making process helps ensure that treatment aligns with their personal values and practical realities. When patients actively participate in their care planning, they're more likely to stay engaged and committed to their recovery journey.

My role extends beyond simply prescribing treatments – I serve as an ally in my patients' pursuit of mental wellness. By combining evidence-based practices with individualized attention, I help each person chart their unique path toward improved mental health.
