Great to meet you!

I provide a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe to show up as your full self, and I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and compassion. I understand how mental health can be impacted by family responsibilities, cultural expectations, and systemic barriers, and I bring that awareness into every session.

I hold advanced degrees in Social Work and Applied Behavior Analysis and have over 10 years of experience as both a clinician and educator. My background in higher education keeps my approach grounded in current research, ethical care, and evidence-based practices, while also allowing me to meet you with patience and a well-rounded perspective.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. Together, we’ll create a path forward that feels aligned, manageable, and meaningful for you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in cultural humility. I view therapy as a partnership in which clients are respected as experts of their own lived experiences, and treatment is shaped around their goals, values, and strengths. My work emphasizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore challenges at their own pace while building insight, resilience, and practical coping skills.

I integrate evidence-based practices with a strengths-based and systems-oriented perspective, recognizing how family dynamics, community context, and broader social factors impact mental health. Intisar focuses on emotional regulation, functional communication, and skill development, while also addressing underlying trauma, stress, and life transitions. When working with children and families, I prioritize caregiver collaboration and continuity across home, school, and community settings.

Across all work, I guided by compassion, patience, and clinical excellence, aiming to empower clients, foster meaningful change, and support long-term healing and growth.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, calm, and supportive environment where the focus is on building trust and understanding. I begin by getting to know you as a whole person, not just the concerns that brought you to therapy. The session is paced thoughtfully, allowing clients to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with.

Intisar will ask about your current challenges, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy, while also explaining the therapy process, confidentiality, and what working together may look like. I take time to listen carefully, clarify concerns, and understand the context of your life, including relationships, stressors, and supports.

Clients can expect collaboration rather than judgment. Together, we will begin identifying priorities for treatment and possible next steps. The first session is not about having all the answers, but about creating a foundation of safety, clarity, and partnership so therapy can move forward in a way that feels supportive, respectful, and aligned with your needs.
