Great to meet you!

I am currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with the NC Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. I am currently a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the NC Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board. I have been providing counseling services since 2012. Additionally, I have an extensive background in working with at-risk youth and adults with mental health and substance abuse diagnoses.

My approach to therapy

My general framework and theory used utilizes cognitive behavioral strategies and interventions, all of which will be explained to you in an understandable manner at the first session. I may also utilize an “eclectic” approach to therapy, meaning the skills used are varied and applied with clinical judgment based on your needs. I will challenge you in a caring and empathetic manner to look at yourself and seek alternative options and strategies for handling life.

What you can expect from me

The goal of counseling is to provide a collaborative relationship to better help you with issues you may be dealing with and provide treatment options and planning to help you succeed. There may be homework assignments such as journal writing, reading, art or other methods of self-discovery and expression. The process and content of the assignments will be followed up in counseling sessions for the development of self-awareness and healing.
