Great to meet you!

As a licensed professional counselor I hold a Masters of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I have 14 years of experience in the counseling field specializing in various areas of treatment such as: anxiety, depression, grief and loss; trauma; PTSD; personality disorders; ADHD; ODD; anger management; domestic violence; Women's issues and others.

My approach to therapy

I firmly believe that counseling is a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist and that is takes a sincere joint effort between parties to reach goals. Strategies that use active and responsive listening skills and those that focus on development and growth by showing genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard are what you can expect from me.

What you can expect from me

For whatever reason one seeks counseling, the ultimate goal should be a greater sense of self-concept and self-efficacy while at the same time empowering individuals to improve their relationships and interactions with other systems. Thus, you can expect a safe environment to explore your thoughts, feelings, and reactions about people in your life as well as yourself as you work to improve the functioning of the interacting systems.

I realize that clients come from diverse cultures and backgrounds; therefore, I am very sensitive to cultural differences in the client’s sense of self and how they view relationships, family, and the world. Thus, you will find an empathetic attitude that is very open to diversity. Self-awareness is an essential goal for all clients and having someone to walk one through this process can be extremely empowering.
