Great to meet you!

I’m Jim, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 19 years of experience helping people work through anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grief, and reactions that can feel difficult to control. I especially enjoy working with men who may be used to handling things on their own but are ready for something to change. My style is direct, open-minded, and practical. We’ll focus on what’s actually happening in your life and find ways to help you feel more in control.

My approach to therapy

Therapy with me is practical, collaborative, and focused on progress. We’ll look at what triggers you, how your thoughts influence your reactions, and the patterns that keep you feeling stuck. Using approaches such as CBT, trauma-focused therapy, and solution-focused techniques, we’ll work on skills you can actually use outside of therapy. My goal isn’t to have you talk in circles. It’s to help you understand what’s happening, respond differently, and build lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting a clear picture of what’s going on and what you want to be different. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, where you’re feeling stuck, and what you’d like to work toward. I’ll ask questions, listen, and help us identify a few realistic starting points. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet. We’ll take it one step at a time and create a plan that feels manageable.
