Great to meet you!

Hello, I am James. Thank you for looking at my profile. I am a Social Worker who has worked in several settings during my twenty-year journey in the mental health field. I work with adult clients of various backgrounds. A lesson I learned long ago guides all my work: “Meet the client where they are.”

My approach to therapy

Therapy is your time to talk about what you want. I listen and ask questions to clarify what you are saying and what you might be feeling. We work together to understand what would be most helpful for your overall wellbeing. I am very flexible but use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy techniques primarily.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a time to get to know each other. The importance of therapeutic alliance, the connection between therapist and client cannot be overstated. I want us both to feel comfortable knowing that we can communicate together with self-growth as our common goal. The first session should leave us both looking forward to our next conversation,
