Great to meet you!

I’m Janessa (she/her), a queer therapist who specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse folks, particularly those navigating ADHD, personal identity work, anxiety, OCD, religious and complex trauma, and relational challenges. Within couples and relationship therapy, I help partners seeking to improve communication and closeness, navigate and process life transitions, deepen intimacy, and those exploring CNM/ENM/polyamory.

My approach to therapy

I utilize a warm, collaborative, and direct approach throughout the process of therapy, and ultimately, believe that you are the expert of your own experience. I draw from an integrative approach including attachment-based, trauma-informed, emotion-focused, and strengths-based, while always maintaining a systemic, social justice, intersectional, and feminist framework.

What you can expect from me

You can expect for us to spend our first session building trust, exploring your strengths and support systems, and understanding your needs and goals in therapy. I see symptoms not necessarily as problems to eliminate, but as meaningful responses that deserve understanding. I honor that every individual I work with has innate wisdom and has likely attempted many solutions to move themselves toward a meaningful, safe, and happy life. Therefore, it is important to me to ensure I establish trust and safety first and foremost. It is my goal to build a trusting relationship that allows you to feel fully understood, supported, and empowered within the process of therapy.
