Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Janet. I’ve been in the helping profession since 1998 . I obtained a bachelors in psychology in 1998 and a Masters in Social Work in 2012. I have trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), crisis intervention and panic/ anxiety management. I am a Momma and a Nana. I have had my share of grief and life traumas and can understand exactly how scary and intimating therapy can feel. I do believe people can change to have and be what they want. With that being said, know that that will take some hard work. I love to help people see their lives from a different perspective and help identify strengths that people have that they may not be able to access or utilize when under the pressure of “life.”

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy all begins with building rapport.I like to get to know my clients with some general conversation. I don’t believe in pressuring clients to delve right into issues they are facing unless they so choose. I believe in meeting people where they are at. Focusing on what they expect from therapy and further discuss how we go about reaching their goal. My favorite approach to therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT). I believe our thinking influences how we behave and feel. Sometimes those patterns are etched so deeply it can be difficult to connect the two.I also like a solution focused approach which allows us to get to ideas how to fix what a client feels need fixing/ changed. Therapy is not a one size fits all, so I like to see where the conversation leads and not just focus on a type of therapy but more of what “ a person needs” and naturally we go on about getting there.

What you can expect from me

A client can expect to get from me genuine regard for human kind. I want to hear what you have to say and your perception of how your life is looking and what you want it to look like. I would want to hear some expectations of our process and goals.
