Great to meet you!

I'm Janna Williams, and my path to becoming a therapist is anything but traditional — and I think that's exactly what makes me effective. After 30 years with the State of North Carolina, I retired and did what most people wouldn't: I started over. I became a mobile crisis team responder, showed up for people in their hardest moments, and discovered exactly where I was meant to be. I hold a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from UNC Charlotte (Go Niners! 🤘) and earned my Master of Social Work from UNC Pembroke in 2022 (Go Braves! 🏹). My background spans the judicial system, child welfare, substance use, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention — which means I've seen a lot, and very little surprises or intimidates me. I'm here with you at Greater Vision Counseling Services, Southern Pines, and I am genuinely honored to be part of your story.

My approach to therapy

I bring the whole person into the room — mind, body, and spirit. My work is grounded in evidence-based practice, but I also weave in spiritual and holistic approaches to wellness, because healing rarely fits neatly into a clinical checklist. I believe every person already holds within them what they need to grow — my job is to help you find it. Whether we're unpacking old wounds, navigating a major life shift, or just working on becoming a better version of yourself, I'll meet you there with curiosity, zero judgment, and a whole lot of lived experience. I'm also passionate about dismantling the stigma around mental health — because asking for help isn't weakness. It's one of the bravest things a person can do.

What you can expect from me

Expect to feel welcome — genuinely, not just professionally. Our first session is a real conversation: I want to hear about your challenges, your struggles, and yes, your successes too, because those matter just as much. I'll ask about what's brought you in, what you're hoping to find, and what support looks like for you. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — after 30 years in public service and years of showing up for people in crisis, I've learned that the starting line looks different for everyone. What matters is that you showed up. From here, we build together — toward your recovery, your growth, and your ultimate success. It would truly be my honor to take that first step with you.
