Great to meet you!

I could tell you all of my various accolades and experiences, and eventually I will do so, but I have also learned that if you do know how to approach your client as an equal than the therapeutic relationship will struggle to form. I can be very direct, but also am easily capable of being personable and affirming too. Separate from being a therapist, I am a collector of far too many houseplants and am an avid outdoorsmen. You will rarely find me sitting on my couch, and am a busybody indoors too. I have a pet who is my shadow, and have called Raleigh my home for nearly a decade. I love to ski and am pretty good at too. My hand-eye coordination for many other sports is questionable.

I graduated in 2018 and am a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) here in North Carolina. I am also a supervisor of new therapists entering the behavioral health field (CCS-I).

I have a range of professional experiences, from high acuity community-based services to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations to routine weekly outpatient therapy appointments. Regardless of what brought you to someone like me; I feel as though I will likely be able to assist you, so long as you too are willing to put forth the effort.

There is no magic wand in therapy to cure a patient of everything that ails them, but with a strong therapeutic alliance I can help those who want to help themselves.

My approach to therapy

A clinician can be proficient in countless modalities, but if they forget they're speaking to another human, and not reciting a textbook, than it will be a moot point. I rarely assign 'homework', unless you want me to. I rarely disclose information, but if I do it is solely for your own benefit. I'm fine, usually anyway!

Areas of clinical interest: SPMI (thought disorders), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Addiction (SUD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and LGBTQ+ topics.

I utilize an amalgamation of theoretical modalities such as: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and elements of solution focused brief therapy.

What you can expect from me

Intakes rarely feel like a real conversation, because is some respects they aren't. However, by the end of our first appointment together I will have gathered information to determine what you hope to gain out of therapy and how I can help you achieve your goals.
