I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy as my primary approaches to therapy. CBT is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Helping clients develop healthy thinking patterns assists with an increase in confidence to manage mental health. Using DBT focuses on helping manage intense emotions through mindfulness, emotional regulation by identifying triggers, healthy coping skills, and distress tolerance. Narrative therapy has been the most useful when working with clients whose goal is to process trauma by becoming an expert in their own lives and feel empowered. Solution-focused therapy assists with focusing on the present and the future with an emphasis on goal setting. It is very goal-oriented and highlights individual strengths while working towards treatment goals.
