Great to meet you!

Started as a therapist in my church's ministry in 2002, worked twenty three years in child welfare, began private practice in 2012. Developed niches over time for fatherhood issues, dementia care through personal experience, group work, formerly incarcerated, couples are a fave, adolescent children center my heart, and I work with people of all races and ethnicities. I am culturally centered respecting the lived experiences of people and operate as if anyone I encounter has experienced trauma.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is that the client is the expert at figuring out their own solutions. I do not fix situations, but empower the client to do the necessary work, homework and provide them with the tools to manage their wellness journey. I gather relevant information to understand context and believe the past is relative to behaviors exhibited. I provide reading resources, activities to do on one's own and believe in self reflection.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect that they will walk away with a sense of accomplishment at changing their circumstances. The work in between sessions is just as important as the work in session. They can expect challenges to their ways of thinking or behaving that may contribute to their respective issues. They can expect that they will have a greater understanding of their power to change their situation.
