Great to meet you!

I am here for you. My name is Dr. Jay Rhodes, and I am a board-certified, Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in Maryland, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oklahoma and Texas. I have a passion for helping individuals find healing, growth, and transformation in their lives. I have extensive education, experience, and expertise in various fields of counseling, ministry, and human relations. I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures in various settings such as military bases, combat zones, hospitals, schools, embassies, consulates, to nonprofit homeless ministries. I have helped individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups deal with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and relationships. I have helped others, I can help you.

My approach to therapy

I have worked with traumatic-event survivors from diverse backgrounds in settings like military bases, combat zones, hospitals, schools, and nonprofits. At Texas A&M University-Central Texas, I taught trauma recovery to graduate students pursuing counseling degrees.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) EFT helps improve relationships by enhancing emotional awareness, expression, and connection. Supported by strong evidence, EFT enables couples to overcome challenges and build lasting bonds.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) ACT helps individuals accept their thoughts and feelings, commit to values-based actions, and increase psychological flexibility. I have successfully used ACT to address anxiety, stress, eating issues, and depression.

Faith-Based Therapy Faith-based therapy integrates religious or spiritual beliefs into the therapeutic process. I completed Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy training, hold a BA in world religion with a focus on Buddhism, and a master’s degree in Bible. This approach is not suitable for everyone and should align with the client’s beliefs.

Couples Counseling As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with expertise in clinical and systems therapy, I help couples achieve healthier relationships. Couples therapy can improve communication, conflict resolution, emotional connection, trust, intimacy, and problem-solving. I taught Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
