Great to meet you!

Welcome to my profile page - I'm so glad you are here!

Whether you are coming to therapy for the first time or have years of experience working with a mental health practitioner, I commend you for taking a step towards positive change.

Life can present even the strongest people with challenging obstacles. Perhaps you want to improve your relationships, quiet your inner critic, let go of perfectionism, live a more purposeful life, or overcome your anxiety? I'm here to help.

Meaningful change requires courage and curiosity. With genuine kindness, compassion (and sometimes a little humor), I can help you achieve the goals you set for yourself.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in the software and retail manufacturing industries. I believe it was my listening and problem-solving skills and my sincere interest in people's unique life stories that eventually led me to this role. You can learn more about me and my approach on my website at www.jeanettekuhns.com.

My approach to therapy

I am interested in your unique life story and people and events that have formed your sense of Self. The process is about you, after all.

That being said, I want to understanding the lens through which you see and experience the world and how your lens was shaped throughout your life. This step is a shift from your outer story to an inner journey. This inner journey draws upon every aspect of your life. The process requires both courage and curiosity.

With a compassionate and gentle approach, I help you discover and develop a healthier relationship with internal parts of yourself that are distracting or disorienting you from experiencing your authentic Self. With my guidance, you will come to realize you have the ability to heal burdened parts of yourself and access an inner wisdom that perhaps you never knew you possessed.

Most the clients I work with are;

  • Curious to explore and motivated to heal from past and current life events that are restricting personal growth and overall life satisfaction. Struggling to understand, establish, and maintain interpersonal boundaries and boundaries within themselves.
  • Feeling directionless or "stuck", and ready to cultivate a meaningful and purposeful life.
  • Burdened by relational challenges.
  • Seeking emotional stability during a life transition or loss.
  • Individuals suffering from physical and psychological challenges related to mid-life transitions.

What you can expect from me

I will collaborate with you to formulate therapeutic goals, but that doesn't mean the therapeutic process is always linear. We work together to identify what is most pressing for you at the beginning of each session. Ultimately, my hope is that over time you become more confident, more empowered, more emotionally centered, and have a healthy relationship with yourself and those around you.
