Great to meet you!

Greetings. I would love to meet you and see if we are a good fit! For a free consultation, contact me at 901-674-1510.

---Please know that while I have had 30 years of counseling experience and an abundance of graduate school education, I am not the way I am only because I’m a trained therapist. I am a counselor because that’s who I’ve always been- one who has naturally attempted to create comfortable, non-judgemental spaces from innate, intuitive, and creative places within for those to share struggles when in distress.

---From private practice, to treatment centers, to hospitals, and to college campuses, I have related with adults and seniors from diverse backgrounds within varying developmental stages of life who long to enhance meaning and to re-establish a more natural state of equilibrium during times of imbalance and dis-ease.

---Many of those people have experienced personal and interpersonal transformation despite facing anxiety, depression, grief, meaning-making difficulties, identity issues, spiritual voids, or relationship struggles. I believe we all can find more wholeness and peace within the psyche.

My approach to therapy

---First and foremost, I build solid counseling relationships by allowing them to take place naturally. Each person has a different temperament, and we all have different things packed in our luggage. We thus have varying degrees of anxiety unpacking. As such, I adapt to your personality and level of comfort at all times during counseling.

---Moreover, I take an integrative approach to therapy, as it is often necessary to merge several treatment modalities together. We will likely be examining an entire system of interrelated dynamics, such as one’s past, thought processes, emotions, meaning making, or spirituality (only if this is important to you).

---Counseling with me, then, is like bringing balance to imbalances. In all we do together, the goal is for you to find insight to rediscover a more natural state of equilibrium.

---I use the following interventions...

Humanistic Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Behavioral Therapy

Logotherapy

What you can expect from me

---Much of the first session involves an intake with questions from me to get additional background information. I run over scheduled time if need be to ensure we've had the opportunity to explore the pressing things on your mind so I can best begin to understand you.

---This session and throughout, my hope is to create as comfortable and natural an environment as possible for us to address your needs.
