Great to meet you!

I am an LCSW who graduated from USC in 2010. However, I've been working with at-risk youth through residential programs, foster care, and adoption for 25+ years. Being married for 30+ years and adopting children with traumatic histories increases my empathy and provides a unique perspective on parenting, trauma, and many other life issues. I published my first book on grief and loss using my favorite tools in a guided journaling experience and am working on my next book Trauma as a Mama.

My approach to therapy

Through years of experience, I have obtained an extensive variety of tools and stories from both personal and professional life. Mental health is a journey with a lot of trial and error and the key to success is trying out various tools and adjusting them to fit your situation. I use primarily CBT, but also tap into TF CBT, EMDR, CPT, RET, and Motivational Interviewing. I am trauma-informed and use trauma-informed treatments as I believe most mental health stems from trauma.

What you can expect from me

I am a huge supporter of homework. In each session, we will develop a plan of things to try to work on challenging and retraining your brain. I am a guide, but you have to practice the tools for them to be beneficial. The more you practice, the better you will become. You can expect a non-judgmental ear who is intent to listen first and then respond. We will work through many tools and approaches together to find what works best for you.
