Great to meet you!

With over fourteen years of dedication in the mental health field, eight years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience and deep empathy to her practice, focusing on the unique challenges faced by military families, trauma survivors, and couples navigating relational hurdles. With many years of experience, she has worked with a very diverse population, from small children, to adolescents, adults, and even the geriatric population. All who had many struggles with their mental health. Her approach is grounded in trust, cultural competence, and clinical excellence—combining methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and emotionally focused therapy.

Her work with military families reflects a nuanced understanding of deployment cycles, reintegration stress, and the strength it takes to thrive through transitions. In trauma recovery, she creates a safe and empowering environment for healing and post-traumatic growth. Her marriage therapy clients appreciate her ability to foster communication, repair connection, and strengthen emotional bonds.

Clients often describe her as intuitive, steady, and deeply committed to their well-being—someone who meets people where they are, and walks with them toward where they want to be.

My approach to therapy

  • EMDR focuses on helping individuals process and resolve unprocessed traumatic memories that may be causing psychological distress (e.g., PTSD, anxiety, or depression). It is based on the idea that trauma can overwhelm the brain’s natural ability to process experiences, causing memories to become "stuck" and continue to trigger emotional responses long after the event is over.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It’s structured, goal-oriented, and widely used for anxiety, depression, and trauma.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) A form of CBT that emphasizes emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. Especially effective for clients with intense emotions or borderline personality disorder.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious processes and past experiences, especially childhood, to understand current behavior. It’s insight-oriented and often long-term.
  • Humanistic Therapy Centers on personal growth and self-actualization. Therapists offer unconditional positive regard and empathy, helping clients explore their feelings and values.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Short-term and future-oriented, this approach emphasizes clients’ strengths and resources to build solutions rather than dwell on problems.
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy Integrates knowledge of trauma’s impact into all aspects of care. Prioritizes safety, empowerment, and trust-building, often using modalities like EMDR or somatic therapy.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Primarily used in couples counseling, EFT helps partners understand and restructure emotional responses to strengthen attachment bonds.
