Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Jennifer, owner of Dark Hope Counseling, LLC. I believe in a realistic approach to counseling. My job is to try to see the world as you see it, so I can bring my knowledge and expertise in a way that makes sense and applies to you and your life. I want to empower you to make the changes you want to make to your life by helping you understand yourself better. I received my Master's in Counseling West Virginia University (2017) and a Master’s in Public Theology from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (2026). I have worked in Inpatient Behavioral Medicine, Inpatient Substance Use Rehabilitation, and now own my own Private Practice.

My approach to therapy

I believe in physical, mental, and spiritual healing. I take a predominantly cognitive-behavioral therapy approach. I will apply other approaches and techniques as they apply and are relevant (or requested) to your personality and goals. Including but not limited to ACT, Person-Oriented, Mindfulness, REBT, Motivational Interviewing, and even Art Therapy. I prefer short-term solution-focused sessions that address immediate needs and concerns to keep you or get you back to living your life, checking in with support, like me, as necessary.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is about YOU and what YOU want. I am your guide to where YOU want to go. I will do my best to help you get there. That said, if you want to be “normal,” I’m not your therapist. I believe all people should be unique with their own personalities, interests, passions, and flair. I am confrontational and direct. I build rapport and develop a relationship of trust with you so that I can be honest and forthright, and you can be the same with me. Tell me anything in whatever way you communicate. The better I know you. The better I can communicate with you. The better I can help you.
