Great to meet you!
Hi. My name is Jennifer Tisdale. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In 1998, I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and Public Health with a focus on maternal and child health, and I have trained at the national and state level on trauma informed care modalities.
My experience includes working in the court system with child abuse victims, in non-profit organizations with severely traumatized children and adults experiencing homelessness, and in hospitals with families experiencing grief due to the loss of a child. I enjoy working primarily with teenagers, adults and couples to help them process through pain and loss at all levels, to treat depression, anxiety, grief/loss, intimacy wounds, relationship issues, trauma, PTSD and more.
My training and experience includes many treatment modalities which I really like to combine — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Loving Kindness Mindfulness Meditation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Polyvagal, Internal Family Systems, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and Brief Solution Therapy.
Working somatically with the body, in conjunction with the mind, to find internal balance and peace is a great passion of mine. We will maintain curiosity to explore you. I will employ a combination of techniques that feel most comfortable for you, believing strongly that you are your best guide to healing. I believe it is very important for you to be firmly engaged in the therapeutic process and understand that growth and healing can take time, patience, work, discomfort, and great self-compassion.
