Great to meet you!

I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 20 years of experience working with diverse individuals in the community, private practice, and residential substance abuse treatment.

Making the decision to receive psychotherapy can be taxing; however, the results are often positive and rewarding. Learning to face fears is not an easy task. You will cry, laugh, and maybe feel a little uncomfortable at times. This is the therapeutic process working to make you emotionally stronger. My specialties are trauma, depression, substance abuse, and anxiety.

My approach to therapy

My specialties are working with clients who may have had traumas, substance abuse, Anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and gender identity.

In an effort to give the best practice to my clients, I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Certified, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy and various types of therapies to assist clients.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you will be asked questions to gain information about your background and reasons for reaching out for services. This is called an intake.

You will also develop a list of goals that you want to work on. This is called a treatment plan. At the end of your session, you might be given homework. Homework tools are useful and allow for you to practice skills or reflect on life. If you want a good outcome, homework is often the key.

IMPORTANT:

Please review the cancellation policy. If you cancel your appointment 24 hours or less before your session, you will be billed $150 "no show fee". If you reschedule on your own at least 24 hours before or contact this therapist to reschedule your appointment, you will not receive a fee. It is understandable that emergencies can happen on your end as well as mine. If I have an emergency and must cancel, you will be contacted as soon as possible by my office to reschedule.

To help us maintain a safe, confidential, and effective environment for your sessions, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

1. Please join sessions from a private location.

Your privacy matters. Make sure you’re in a space where you won’t be overheard or interrupted. If your home isn’t an option, sitting in your parked car in a safe location (like your driveway) is perfectly fine.

2. For safety reasons, you cannot be in a moving vehicle.

You must not be driving or riding in any vehicle as a passenger during our sessions. This helps keep you safe and ensures you can be fully present.

3. Pets are welcome... as long as they’re not a distraction.

If your furry friend can hang out calmly, they’re absolutely invited. (I love puppies!) If they become distracting, I may gently ask that they be moved to another space. If that’s not possible, you’re always welcome to reschedule for a time when you can enjoy complete privacy.
