Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Jen and I am a mental health therapist who has been in the field for over 3 years. I have my bachelor's degree in psychology and education studies, along with my master's degree in social work with a clinical emphasis. I have recently been certified in mental health and nutrition. I like to take a whole client perspective to therapy, which includes you being in the driver's seat, and me in the passenger seat along for the journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is mostly getting to know you as a person. I like to get to know you, and more than just your mental health struggles. We want to know all the details of your life, current and past so we can approach healing with you being in the center and so I as a provider can view you as a whole person and everything that comes with you. No content is "too much" in therapy, and my biggest, ultimate goal for my clients is to feel that therapy is a safe space for them to be themselves. Whether therapy is a break from the stressful daily schedule or it is a place to dump the deep trauma you have been hiding, it is safe no matter what. I will be alongside of you on your journey of healing, not dragging you on and being in front of you or above you. We use multiple modalities and skills from therapy from CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic therapy, or maybe your nutrition and physical health is the area to focus on, it all leads back to our unique brains and why we feel the way we feel. So, bring everything to me! The humor, the darkness, the skills you have already learned, and the things you want to grow and improve on.

What you can expect from me

Our first session has one goal: to establish that first impression and trust between me and you. You can expect a safe, open space to just say what is on your mind, or you can make me be in the hot seat and ask me questions about myself, my experience, and what therapy is all about. I will meet you where you are at and help where I can. I also am big on knowing your resources and what is available to you outside of therapy, so we can do some research on that together as well. No requirements or homework assignments due this session, just come as you can and let me do the work!
