Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Jerome Obiagba, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of experience providing psychiatric care across outpatient and long-term care settings. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adolescents, adults, and older adults.

My approach is patient-centered, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe effective mental health care begins with listening and understanding each person’s unique experiences, goals, and concerns. I work with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. I also have experience working with individuals affected by substance use and addiction.

I take time to explain treatment options and work collaboratively with each patient to develop a plan that fits their individual needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood without judgment. I take the time to understand your symptoms, personal experiences, goals, and concerns before developing a treatment plan.

I use evidence-based psychiatric care, including medication management and supportive therapeutic approaches, while recognizing that mental health treatment is not one-size-fits-all. When appropriate, I incorporate lifestyle strategies, education, behavioral changes, and coordination with therapists and other healthcare providers.

I encourage patients to be active participants in their treatment. We will discuss treatment options together, including the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives so that you can make informed decisions about your care.

My goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to help you develop greater stability, confidence, and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, comfortable, and judgment-free conversation focused on understanding you as a whole person. We will discuss what brought you to treatment, your current symptoms, personal and medical history, medications, previous mental health treatment, and any concerns affecting your daily life.

I will also take time to understand your goals and what you hope to accomplish through treatment. Together, we will review your treatment options and determine whether medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches may be appropriate.

I believe treatment should be collaborative, so you will have an opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and participate in decisions about your care. When medication is recommended, I will explain the expected benefits, potential side effects, and alternatives before we make a decision.
