Great to meet you!

I am a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience providing counseling/therapy services. I received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and later earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy) from the University of San Francisco in California. My specialties are child & adolescent issues, relationship & family problems, adjustment problems, depression, anxiety, stress management, anger management and ADHD.

My approach to therapy

I would describe my style as supportive and empowering, gentle while challenging, and frequently incorporating humor. My philosophy on the client/therapist relationship is that it is a partnership in which both parties are open and honest. As a therapist, it is my job to help guide the process.

What you can expect from me

Your initial session would be a structured get-to-know-you type of meeting where we decide if my personality and approach to therapy would be a good fit for your needs. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in right now along with gathering information regarding your background and personal history. It’s a broad look at your world so I can understand the full picture.

We’ll also talk about what you hope to get out of therapy. This will help to create what we therapists refer to as a "treatment plan", which is just a plan to help to guide the therapeutic process going forward.
